Once the cool-down was over, Mater screamed again, blowing all the doors open. But there was no sign of any wraith, not even a show.

The cat's pupils dilated.

The black cat flew around the restroom but could not find the shadow wraith.

Suddenly, a sharp shadow spear shot up from right beneath the book. It came from the shadow of the book on the floor.

The spear struck the Dark Grimoire but was unable to be pierced through it. Instead, it flipped the book over, almost throwing Mater to the ground. Mater hung onto the book and moved out of the way. The spear struck into the ceiling above, creating a hole and countless cracks in the concrete.

"Oh? You can strike from the shadows. This is similar to Chains of Shadow."

Mater flew out of the restroom to find a more spacious battlefield. His mind connected to Aurora telepathically.

"Move out of the 30-meter radius." He told her.

"On it, Master." Aurora's voice echoed as a reply. She grabbed Selina's wrist and ran as quickly as she could.

A thin strip of shadow ran out from the restroom and followed Mater. It was incredibly fast.

"Found you." Mater opened his mouth and shot two Nether Spheres at it. The sphere dug into the floor, damaging the wraith underneath.

It could enter a two-dimensional surface like a real shadow but it wasn't invulnerable. The Nether Spheres damaged it, peeling out a dark cloud of shadow from its body.

The wraith turned from a narrow strip of shadow into an entire humanoid shadow.

It shrieked in pain before turning back into a strip and running away from the Nether Spheres. Once it had gained enough distance, it turned back into a humanoid shadow and counter attacker Mater with several spears shooting from its body.

Mater rolled in the air and flew higher, avoiding the spears.

'It's not really attacking from ANY shadow, only from its shadow. It hid in the book's shadow before...' Mater thought in his head.

He answered the spears with his own Nether Spheres. His attack disrupted the shadow wraith's attack. It turned back into the narrow strip and dodge the Nether Spheres.

"I see. You can't use other abilities while you move fast." Mater stroked his whiskers arrogantly.

The shadow wraith turned back to its humanoid form and intended to attack Mater again. However, Aurora had gone far enough away.

The black cat opened its mouth.

Outside the entrance gate, the security guard sat on a stool smoking. The white smoke of cigarettes floated heavily around him. Suddenly, he heard a crow cawing.

"Crow? That is a sign of bad luck." The guard ignored the noise and kept smoking.

Back in the second floor, the shadow wraith emerged from the floor. Its cloudy body flickered as its squirmed on the ground. The shadow wraith covered its ears but it was no help, it convulsed on the ground.

Mater used this opportunity to slam two Nether Spheres at it. The purple spheres dug into its cloudy skin, peeling away more dark smoke.

The shadow wraith shrieked in pain. It crawled away from the spot despite the disorientation it was receiving from Crow's Call.

"Let's see if shadow can bind shadow." The black cat flicked his paw.

Chains of Shadow emerged from the body of the shadow wraith and wrapped around it, preventing it from moving.

Mater released another two Nether Spheres at the shadow wraith, continuing to peel down its cloudy body.

The faceless head suddenly opened up a mouth. It screamed loudly.

Its body expanded and enlarged, turning into a two-meter tall shadow spider. The black chains were broken off.

It jumped to the side, moving away from the existing Nether Spheres.

Now it had eight legs. Four of the hind legs kept its body balance while the four front legs lifted up. The legs extended and turned into sharp shadow spears that shot at Mater.

The cat let out a soundwave that diverted two of the legs away. It had to fly away to dodge the remaining two.

"That is its previous attack!"

The spider kept a close distance with Mater and attacked him repeatedly with its leg-spears.

Aurora had run back from outside the radius. She clasped her hand together. An ice pillar shot up and trapped the spider inside. She hesitated no more and slammed her hand on the floor, ice spikes shot out from within the walls of the ice pillars. They pierced through the cloudy body of the spider.

Its shadow form did have blood. Black blood dripped onto the ice spikes constantly. However, the shadow wraith seemed to be much more durable than before.

Its front legs broke a hole in the ice pillar for it to jump out.

Mater used another Chains of Shadow to root it in place. The spell was still effective.

The black cat and Aurora used this opportunity to bombard the shadow spider with their spells.

The spider slowly grew weaker and weaker. It broke off after six seconds and continued its attack.

"Another type of resistance, huh..."

Mater observed the spider closely. He was thinking about enslaving this wraith. Different from the other wraiths he had seen, this wraith had some very strategic abilities that he could use.

The ability seeped under the floor as a shadow was the best espionage tool. Currently Mater had placed a clone in the police station to keep watch.

But his clone only existed for six hours. The cool-down of the ability was 24 hours. No matter what, there would be gap hours that he couldn't monitor the police station.

Not unless he monitored the place himself. Mater didn't have time to do that. He was busy farming Chaos Stones.

The black cat had decided to catch this shadow wraith.

He jumped off the Dark Grimoire. The leathery book stood up straight. It flipped to the tenth page of the Dark Grimoire. A black hole appeared on the page.

"Here, spidey, spidey! Come to papa!"
