There were many different adventure bikes available in the dealership. They were split between lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight.
For a fragile woman like Selina, Ike recommended her to buy the lightweight only. It wasn't just lighter, but the price was much lower than the other two as well.
"For a lightweight adventure motorcycle like this. If it got dropped, you would have an easier time picking it up. Its price range was also the lowest, with the highest one around 10,000 credits.
Since you are a new rider, I recommend buying a cheap one first to get used to the bike."
"Thanks, Ike. But I want to see the bikes."
"Of course, right this way, Miss Isles."
Ike showed Selina a range of different lightweight ADV. She and Mater were mostly unimpressed for most of them. They looked cool but didn't match their preference at all.
Then they saw it. A jet black lightweight ADV with glossy finish. It had a slender frame to go well with Selina's body. A distinct beak in the front and a protective windscreen for long journeys.
It looks like a crow shrinking its body in front of a storm. A bike of style, power, and gothic.
"I'll take that." Selina pointed to the bike.
"That? That is the Landa 1050 ADV. It is the most expensive one in our dealership for lightweight adventure bikes. Its price is 9,000 credits."
"I'll take that." Selina repeated.
"Are you going to haggle or..." Ike blinked his eyes several times.
"I said. I'll take that bike. Either you sell it to me now or I'll find someone else to help me."
"Sold!" Ike didn't need to hear more.
9,000 credits flew out the window. Almost all of the 12,500 credits Selina just received had been wasted for the motorcycle. But both her and Mater did not regret one bit.
Selina even wasted another 100 credits just to have a golden frame for the license plate. The same color as Mater's eye color.
Selina took the new motorcycle out of the street. Her feet were barely able to touch the ground. Mater squeezed into her shirt and popped his little cat head out of the shirt collar.
The cat pointed to the road and meowed loudly. "Onward, my servant!"
Selina pulled the clutch in and shifted the gear up. "Ready?"
Mater meowed loudly. The goth girl released the clutch and rolled the throttle hard. The bike torqued forward, lifting the front wheel up for a few seconds before slamming down on the road.
The golden frame sparkled on the license plate.
"MA-616"
Ike stood in the dealership, watching Selina fly off on the bike while counting his commission from the sale. He licked his finger and counted each and every bill in his hand.
A few sellers approached him.
"She didn't even haggle, Ike?"
"How did you do it, Ike?"
"For being real, kids. Being real." Ike laughed.
Selina zipped through the street on the brand new jet black motorcycle. The loud noise of its engine roared on the street. People turned their heads toward her and watched the goth girl with a cat in her shirt speeding through.
"Damn. That's hot." Someone commented.
Mater stayed in the warmth of Selina's body. The wind blew on his face harshly, making his eyelids flutter uncontrollably.
Selina stopped at a red light. She took out a small helmet with goggles and put it on Mater's head. A kid from a car nearby stared at them without blinking.
Mater turned his face and his newly worn goggles at the kid. The cat smirked, revealing its sharp white teeth.
Then the two zipped away on the motorcycle.
"Mommy! I want a black cat!"
"So, where should we go now? Straight to Ines Sota?" Selina said.
"Let's go to Aurora first." Mater meowed.
Selina couldn't understand him entirely but she could catch the 'Aurora' in his sentence. He did a good job trying to sound human with his limited vocal cord.
The goth girl turned the motorcycle and went to the cold storage to pick up Aurora.
With her presence, Mater could communicate better with Selina.
"Master said that we needed to construct an Abyssal Shrine for Crow as well." Aurora said.
"An Abyssal Shrine? What do we need this time? A dark room without light?" Selina said.
"Not that easy. A Glacial Shrine only needs somewhere cold. Abyssal Shrine requires a little bit of a different environment." Mater meowed.
"What kind of environment?" Selina asked the cat.
"A hopeless one." The cat grinned.
Death Ice came from the hell of ice. The ice in that place killed everything. Even things that weren't supposed to die.
Nether from the Abyss didn't kill. It erased. It destroyed. And they wiped you out of existence. Such was the core value of Nether. This was why between the three types of demonic energy, Nether was the most destructive.
Out of all the places that could represent Abyss the most, Mater could only think of the graveyard.
People rested there. People cried there. People came to regret the past and those who they had lost forever.
In time, these people beneath those grounds would also be forgotten.
Aurora jumped inside the Dark Grimoire. Selina and Mater went back to the police station on the motorcycle. They didn't approach the building but waited at the next city block.
Mater connected his mind to Crow and commanded him to come.
Crow was posing as the shadow of a pot of plant when he heard Mater's noise.
"Come to me, servant!"
"Yes, Master."
Crow used his newly acquired ability, Abyssal Dash, and turned into a strip of shadow that went through the wall of the police station.
Once outside, Crow turned into a shadow crow and flew into the sky. He landed onto the windshield of the motorcycle.
Selina couldn't help herself and reached her hand out to pet the crow. The texture of the shadow crow's feathers were extremely bizarre. They almost felt unreal to touch.
"Have you noticed anything weird lately?" Mater meowed.
Different from Mater, the crow wasn't constrained by its biology. Crow wasn't an actual crow. He was an Abomination. Therefore, he could speak even in animal form.
The crow opened its mouth.
"There is nothing out of the ordinary, Master. However, there is one police officer that has very suspicious behavior."
"Who?"
"Lucy Carpenter, Master."
