CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror

Chapter 74: 11th Page

Darkness once again covered the sky of Aeliz City. However, because it was already night time, the effect of the phenomenon wasn't that noticeable outdoors compared to the first.

Indoor, however, received a large-scale black out. All the lights near the cemetery dimmed down and were barely shining.

This caused quite a commotion amongst the citizens of the city. The ACPD and DSI had given up finding the cause of the phenomenons. They couldn't locate any dangerous NCE related to the phenomenons. So they just ignored them.

Alister was already sleeping soundly in his bed. It had been awhile since he had a good night sleep and not having to work.

Becky was checking on her first Bronze Rank Bounty when the black-out happened. She was wondering why she didn't see Selina around. There weren't that many Bronze Bounties in Aeliz. Then her phone along with the street lamps lost their light.

"I have a feeling something evil is being born in Aeliz." Becky mumbled.

Levy Zakharov was sitting in his mansion when the black out happened. He crushed the glass bottle in his hand.

"Another powerful NCE has just been born. Or maybe it is just an upgrade from the previous time.

An ice NCE. A darkness NCE. Who could do that in such a short time?"

Levy didn't know if they were the same people, but his instinct told him so. He would have had the same powerful NCEs, if his plan wasn't messed with.

The bloodwraith in David Rendell's house and the darkwraith in the sewer all belonged to him. Both were thwarted by some unknown Hunter.

"I will find you. And I will turn you into an NCE." Levy shouted furiously.

Then he calmed down. "I wonder if the spy was able to find out their identity yet…"

Back in the crypt. A dark tree appeared at Crow's location. It sprouted from beneath the ground and reached up to the ceiling. It did not have any leaves. Its body was dark as charcoal and its branches touched the ceiling, covering it entirely. Purple light flowed from all the parts of the tree to Crow, who was now enveloped entirely by the tree trunk.

"Another 500 hundred Chaos. I am officially Chaos broke now." Mater wiped his cat face and dusted his hands.

"Woah. This shrine looked much more sinister than the last." Selina commented.

Aurora's Shrine was an ice throne. Crow's Shrine was a shadow tree.

"I wonder what the third one would be." Selina couldn't help but ask.

"Probably fire related." Mater meowed.

With that done, the group left Crow at the crypt while they returned to Selina's apartment.

Crow had been monitoring the police station non-stop so he needed to regain his energy. Aurora already used her Shrine so she didn't need to.

Aurora went back to Selina's apartment with Mater. A few people saw them together and a rumor had begun in the apartment building.

They said that Selina liked girls and Aurora was her new girlfriend.

Selina didn't try to deny it. That would prevent all the flies from coming at her. Her little prince didn't like men approaching her so that was for the best.

Selina went to her bed and surfed the web, looking for more information about the road to Ines Sota.

Aurora lay on the sofa in the living room while Mater was on the table.

The black cat was inscribing the sixth additional spell for his book.

All the pages of the Dark Grimoire were as follows.

Page 1: Chains of Shadow.

Page 2: Desperation Scream.

Page 3: Page of Imprisonment.

Page 4: Chaos Eyes.

Page 5: Reserve for Aurora.

Page 6: Nether Shot.

Page 7: Crow's Call.

Page 8: Water Clones.

Page 9: Minor Distortion.

Page 10: Reserve for Crow.

Page 11: Empty.

The book flipped to page eleventh, ready to be inscribed.

"I inscribed an illusion spell at level 5. Now what do I need for level 6?

The current contenders are a defensive spell, a movement spell, and an influencing spell.

Influencing spells are spells similar to Dark Whispers. It can be useful but its uses are limited. Especially for a violent cat like me. Let's just skip that.

A movement spell can be very good. But Crow already has a very good movement spell, Abyssal Dash. I can't use it but if I need to chase anyone, Crow should be more than enough. My movement spell isn't that great compared to Abyssal Dash either to be honest.

Let's inscribe a defensive spell then.

The best ones I have are Death Plates, Force Dome, and Elemental Shield."

Death Plates summoned an armor out of Death Ice. The same Death Ice that Aurora had. This armor wouldn't hurt the user but it would hurt the attacker. Any one that attacked him physically would be stung by Death Spikes that shot out from the armor.

Very useful for close-range warlock. But not that suitable for a long-range caster like Mater. He already had two servants. There was no way he would get himself in danger.

Force Dome created a forcefield that could block any magical, and physical attack but couldn't protect the user from spiritual or mental attack. The barrier also had a limited durability that would break after enough damage was dealt.

Elemental Shield suffered the same weakness as Force Dome. It couldn't block spiritual and mental attack. Very few rank 1 spells could. But it didn't create a dome. Instead it used the elements inside the environment to create a shield.

Mater could create a wind shield if he used air. A dirt shield from the ground. Even water or fire shields as well. These shields could only protect him from one direction and depended largely on the environment. Its shield was also less durable than Force Dome.

But if the user knew exactly the kind of attack the enemy would use, Elemental Shield would be much more effective than Force Dome.

"It is between Force Dome and Elemental Shield. I'm going to choose Force Dome. Element Shield isn't that great since most of the enemies I face are unknown. Wraith's attack pattern and power can vary widely. Most of them don't use elements either."

Wraith used Phasmon Energy and weaved them into all kinds of power. Mater had faced simple wraiths with physical attack, Aurora original self with bone attack, the wraith in the sewer with energy beams and clones, the trapped spirits and matter manipulation of the apartment wraith, etc. None of them used elements.

Mater decided his next spell. He extended his claw and sketched Force Dome onto the eleventh page.

A sketch of a transparent dome quickly took shape on the page. The surface of the dome was made of countless interconnected hexagons.

Once Mater finished, colors flooded to the sketch.
