The product Collence was trying to get his hands on was actually not any dwarvian made magical tool but was a material that was only found in this area. This material was a very good magic catalyst and it had a very high demand among the artisans who worked with Magic Tools.
The city management itself was responsible for handling this material and Collence was only able to get his hands on this valuable product because his master was very powerful and influential. So for his master's sake, the city was willing to sell them a batch of this product.
Elena had thought that the master Collence was talking about was a demon as he himself was a demon but that was not the case. His master was a vampire and had the title of marquis in the vampire noble community. That was a very big deal as there were less than 20 families with the title of a marquis.
But even though the city sold the product, a problem suddenly happened in that process. A powerful monster suddenly came to the land from the sea and made that island his layer. For that reason no one was able to go to that island to secure the material.
The city itself was also troubled as that island also supplied the city 20 percent of that material. So they also wanted to get that place back. But S rank monsters were very uncommon in this area, so there were almost no S rankers working in this part of the continent.
There were a few A rakers working in other cities, who were requested to at least collect some of the materials from the island. But with the danger of a S rank monster to be on the Island, all the A rankers rejected that request. They were obviously unwilling to throw away their lives for no reason.
That was the reason why the city governors were ecstatic with the arrival of Elena and Tomoe who were both S rankers. But they also knew that S rankers were very moody and it was unwise to interact with them without proper plans. That was the reason why Elena and Tomoe were not contacted about this situation beforehand.
The local government also told Collence about them but they did not force them to contact Elena. But Collence was also in a hurry so he wanted to get the products as soon as possible. That was the reason why he had taken the risk to contact Elena.
...
After hearing about the whole case Elena and Tomoe both decided to accept this request. Collence would be taking them to the aforementioned island so Elena and Tomoe would be able to enjoy travel in the sea as much as they wanted. And if pirates attacked them, which was a very common occurrence in this area, then they would be able to witness sea combat that mostly relied on long range heavy weapons and ship handling skills.
After Elena and Tomoe accepted their request, Collence was very happy. So he told Elena and Tomoe that they would be able to leave for that island the very next day. Both Tomoe and Elena were fine with it so they all decided to depart for the dangerous island early the very next day.
Collence did ask if Elena and Tomoe wanted to stay in their ship where they would be able to provide them with good food and comfortable rooms as their ship was a luxurious one capable of hosting vampire nobles. But Elena rejected the idea as they would be able to experience it on the journey anyways and she was fine with the inn that they had managed to find after a lot of hard work.
...
After separating from Collence, both of them walked around the harbour for a little bit longer. When it was almost evening and Elena was about to return back to the inn, two dwarves wearing very formal dresses came and greeted them. They introduced themselves as the envoys from the City Council and thanked both of the ladies for accepting the request.
The City council also wanted to officially give them this job and would be paying the required fees for a S rank quest. They had already contacted the adventurer guild of this city so this job had now become an official quest instead of being a private one. Elena was fine with accepting it but first she contacted Collence again to make sure he was fine with this and only then she accepted this official quest.
At first it was only Elena, Tomoe and the crew of Collence who were supposed to go to that dangerous island. But now with the council and adventurer guild joining them, the city petrol ships would also assist them in this venture. The city petrol were more knowledgeable about the sea routes of this area so this was something reassuring for everyone involved in this.
...
Elena and Tomoe discussed about this request while eating bread with cheese and egg for their dinner. This was a very light and simple meal but there was also a ton of roasted meat to feel their belly. So they would at least not be hungry and the bread and cheese were actually top tier. So Elena and Tomoe were happy with it.
Tomoe was excited to go to the sea but at the same time she did not forget to learn more about the monster that suddenly took over that island. Elena was just too powerful so her life was not in any danger but she was planning to get rid of this monster all on her own so knowing more about it was important.
She had already asked the envoys about it who should know about the situation more but they were unable to provide a good answer. All the survivors who had managed to return alive from that Island only said that the monster was covered in a large amount of mana that actually had become visible so no one was able to see its true form.
As for the power level, a veteran retired B ranker who was also at that island as guard was sure as that monster was way above the level of an A rank monster which he had the experience of fighting before. With that statement the level of the monster was judged to be S but it was not a confirmed information.
Materialising magic power to make it visible was not a unique power. Tomoe was also capable of doing something like that with her aura and other S rank mages would also most probably be able to do the same. But doing so did not have any value other than to hide once appearance but there were other better ways to do that. So Tomoe was not sure why the monster was doing such a wasteful thing.
Elena could easily know the reason if she tried, but that would not be fun. So after judging that he little curiosity and slow action would not be putting any lives on risk, she decided to enjoy the surprise. Both Elena and Tomoe did not sleep that night and excitedly talked about how the sea expedition was going to be.
Just like that the night passed and the new adventure was about to begin.
