The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon

Chapter 112: Under Attack!

The Central Region, the Holy Kingdom's camp.

Elizabeth opened her eyes as the sunrise illuminated her tent.

Although she couldn't see, that didn't mean she couldn't feel the light with her sharp senses.

As she sensed the soft plushie-like figure on her lap, she hugged it tightly and whispered: "Good morning, little shadow."

Fafnir gave her a nod and moved his tiny hand across her skin, writing the word "Good morning".

Smiling brightly, Elizabeth placed Fafnir on her head and walked out of the tent, ignoring Mira who was sleeping inside.

Next, she started her usual morning routine.

She went to a small water pool that was in the middle of the camp to clean herself. It was made by some water mages, which meant it was okay to be used for body cleaning and could be easily replaced.

While resting in the pool, she engaged in a small conversation with Fafnir. Or, in this case, it was Dante himself.

He had long stopped seeing through Fafnir's eyes and relied only on his other senses, respecting Elizabeth's privacy.

He excitedly told her about his new treehouse, describing every single detail to her. And Elizabeth listened to everything, asking a few questions to him from time to time.

Of course, the other girls in the pool looked at her with puzzlement.

"Is she talking to her pet again?"

"You don't know? She does this every single day."

"Maybe her pet can talk to her mentally."

"Who knows. I wouldn't provoke her, though. I heard that the higher-ups have something to do with her pet."

"For real?"

Most girls were already used to this sight, thus it didn't take long until they stopped whispering about her.

As for Elizabeth herself, she didn't care about any of them and just continued listening to Dante.

After a few minutes, Elizabeth walked out of the pool and dressed in a new outfit that was provided by the camp, though she refused the boots.

Afterwards, she took the provided breakfast and returned to her tent with Fafnir.

While eating her breakfast, a shadow comb materialized in Fafnir's hand as he combed Elizabeth's hair out of boredom.

That was their daily routine. After that, as the healer of the camp, she'd simply stay in her tent until the time of the next meal or if she had to relieve herself.

She would engage in conversations with her friends when they went free, read newspapers, or heal some soldiers.

It wasn't common to see injured soldiers here, but it wasn't rare either. In the morning, some soldiers would go to hunt some beasts for their meat and receive some wounds. Fafnir only went at night, which was dangerous for the normal soldiers.

However, despite these peaceful days… they were still at war.

BAM!

….

Silence lingered through the air for a moment as Elizabeth wondered if she heard correctly.

"AH! WHAT WAS THAT?!" Mira suddenly woke up, panicking from the sudden sound.

"I… I'm not sure." Elizabeth shook her head as she stood up.

Simultaneously, both her and Fafnir used their detection spells. At the same time, Dante sweated while focusing on Fafnir's senses.

Using Shadow Detection, Fafnir and Dante noticed that all the soldiers in the camp were either standing still like them or moving under all kinds of orders.

Elizabeth looked at Mira and opened her mouth: "Let's leave the te—"

BAM!

Before Elizabeth could complete her sentence, a person pierced through the fabric of the tent and flew toward Elizabeth.

Fafnir barely had time to stand in front of her and turn into his full-size form before that person crashed into both of them, pushing them with intense force outside the tent.

'Damn it! Fafnir, get ready to use your ether or demonic energy whenever you need!' Dante ordered as he observed the situation with heavy emotions.

He had been reading while happily speaking with her only one minute ago. How did the situation accelerate that fast all of a sudden!

Elizabeth coughed as she tried to sense the person that hit both her and Fafnir, but Fafnir had already seen him as his eyes widened in shock.

A young man with black hair lay on top of them with his eyes closed. But the shocking thing about him was the spear piercing his stomach.

Seeing that, all the soldiers moved.

"WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!"

"THE GIANTS ARE ATTACKING THE SOUTHERN SIDE!"

"DON'T PANIC, STAY CALM!"

Everyone moved to a position that depended on some protocols that they had memorized when they entered the camp.

Fafnir gently pushed the young man aside and grabbed Elizabeth's hand, helping her to stand on her feet.

Elizabeth was able to sense many sudden explosions of light at the south side, but she quickly ignored them and focused on the soldier who crashed into her earlier.

Fafnir used his silver eye to check the soldier's condition. Once he confirmed that he was alive, he helped Elizabeth to remove the spear without worsening the soldier's condition while Elizabeth applied healing magic to him.

The next second, Mira left the tent and ran toward Elizabeth: "Are you oka—"

But the moment she saw the black-haired soldier, her face paled, then she crouched beside him: "MICHAEL!"

"Michael…?" Elizabeth finally recognized the soldier as one of her friends, which only caused her to focus more on healing him.

Once the bleeding stopped and his condition stabilized, Fafnir carefully carried him to one of the beds in the tent.

The tent now had two big holes, allowing everyone to see a glimpse of outside the tent.

BOOM!

Another loud sound resounded through the entire camp, but Elizabeth and Mira ignored it… or at least tried.

"S-should we go outside?" Elizabeth asked after hesitating for a few moments.

Mira shook her head helplessly: "We can't. Your role is the only healer of the camp. And when the giants attack, my role becomes your assistant. We can't disobey orders in such a dangerous situation."

"Plus…" Mira smiled bitterly: "We'll be highly needed soon. The injured soldiers will start coming soon, so try to keep their conditions stable rather than healing them completely for your mana to suffice for all of them and save as many lives as possible."

"I understand." Elizabeth nodded before placing her hand on Michael's forehead, checking his temperature.

She couldn't heal him entirely right now, so she could only keep checking his condition to prevent it from worsening.

'This didn't happen entirely all of a sudden, the higher-ups were already noticing some strange movements.' Elizabeth thought before sighing.

Even though they knew that something was about to happen, they still fell for a surprise attack.

Elizabeth didn't expect that her first fight with the giants would be so soon. But what could she do other than staying in her tent while facing such a situation?

Fafnir crouched and brought something from under Elizabeth's bed before handing it to her and Mira. It was a bag filled with the mana crystals that he had collected from the commander in the past few days.

Elizabeth understood his intent instantly. If she ran out of mana, she'd have no choice but to eat one or two of the mana crystals.

"Is Elizabeth here?!"

Soon after, a soldier entered the tent while supporting another soldier who was covered in blood.

With no hesitation, Elizabeth rushed toward them.
