As they continued on their way and were just about to pass the familiar inn to leave the city, a thunderous voice cut through the air.
"Who the hell killed my son?"
Along with the loud bellow, a large figure rushed toward the location of Titan and the others, including the king.
The king stepped forward immediately. He couldn't let Jarhard disturb Arthur and the rest. Didn't he see the monstrosity accompanying them in the form of Titan?
Did he want to lose his life?
"Jarhard, what are you trying to do?" The moment the village head stepped forward, he glared at the man in front of him.
Jarhard was a man of similar age to Rodrick. With a slightly pudgy stature and a round face, he didn't look as dignified as him, but Rodrick couldn't show any disrespect since the man was the king of another village not too far away.
Staring at him with curiosity to understand why Jarhard came to his village despite their unanimous agreement, he waited for his reply.
"Why am I here?" Jarhard roared and pointed at Rodrick, his eyes twisted in fury and anger.
"I just received news that my only son was killed here. Tell me, Rodrick, who the fuck did it?"
At his words, Rodrick was dumbfounded.
Jarhard's son was killed?
Although he knew Jarhard's son usually came to cause trouble in the lower parts of the city, he hadn't thought much about it since the boy never went too far with anyone.
However…
His eyes shifted to the four behind him, and he could already guess what might have happened. After all, the youth was a level 5 player, and only one of these mysterious and powerful youths could have killed him.
Knowing Jarhard's son, Rodrick guessed that the brat might have finally bitten off more than he could chew.
"You!" Jarhard pointed at Arthur and the others after noticing Rodrick's glance. "Which bitch amongst you killed my son? Step out now before I kill all of you!"
He shouted fiercely as he released the pressure of someone at level 12.
He didn't notice the signal Rodrick was giving him, threatening him to keep quiet before it was too late. Jarhard was too engrossed in his anger to notice the hand gestures.
Arthur turned to glance at him, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
Looking at the bald youth whose expression was different from the others, Jarhard understood that Arthur definitely had a hand in whatever happened.
"Brat. Were you the one who killed my son?" Jarhard's words drew Aella and Jason's attention to Arthur, and they noticed the faint smile playing on his lips.
"Yeah, I killed him… so what?" Arthur replied with a nonchalant shrug.
Instantly, Jarhard flared up and turned to glare at Rodrick before shifting his attention back to Arthur.
"Kid, if you don't want to die without a grave, bow your head and follow me to my son's co—"
Jarhard's words trailed off as a thin line appeared on his throat.
He gurgled a little, as though struggling to breathe, as a fountain of blood erupted from his neck.
He turned to look at Rodrick, his face filled with shock, before collapsing to the ground.
Rodrick felt a chill run down his spine as cold sweat broke out all over him.
'What happened? What the fuck just happened?'
He didn't even see Titan or any of Arthur's group make a move.
This could only mean one thing.
There was someone different.
A fifth person.
Someone was definitely hiding in the shadows, and that person had killed Jarhard.
Coming to this realization, Rodrick hastily glanced around, but he couldn't see anyone in his line of sight, not even a silhouette.
Calming his racing heart, he turned to Arthur and the other three with a forced smile.
"Sorry for the inconvenience he caused."
Arthur shrugged and placed a hand casually in his pocket while Aella smiled in return.
"It's nothing. Lead us to the place."
The village head nodded and immediately led the way with unsteady steps.
He didn't know whether the person hiding in the shadows would decide to kill him suddenly, and the thought alone sent shivers down his spine.
Jason glanced at Arthur through the corner of his eyes as they continued their walk, not expecting Arthur to be so ruthless.
He knew the person who had attacked just now was Nephis, who was always hiding in Arthur's shadow, but he didn't know if Arthur had given the order or if she acted on her own.
Recalling what had transpired between them, he was thankful Nephis hadn't acted impulsively when it came to him.
'It might be that back then she wasn't strong enough to be my match… but I must admit.' Jason glanced at Titan through the corner of his eyes with some jealousy. 'His summons are growing at an alarming rate.'
With all these thoughts in mind, Jason acted unbothered for now and casually followed along with Arthur and Aella under the lead of the villager.
They walked for a few seconds and soon left the village.
Along the way, Rodrick had assigned a group of hardworking villagers to clear the corpse of Jarhard.
Although the villagers were stupefied, thinking Rodrick was starting some kind of rebellion, they didn't dare question his order as they moved.
Arthur glanced around upon noticing a shimmering green portal not too far away that radiated an aura far weaker than the one they encountered in Jaell State.
"This is the first portal that appeared here and killed more than ten farmers." Rodrick pointed at the farmland still marked with traces of dried blood and sighed as he explained.
Arthur glanced around, then turned his gaze back to the portal as he asked, "Did you notice anything strange when the portal was appearing?"
The villager glanced at Arthur, thought for a bit, then shook his head.
"I don't think there was anything strange…" He rubbed his chin slightly as his mind drifted through the details.
Jason and Aella also took steps forward to study the place for any signs of something wrong.
Knowing that there was a player behind the creation of these dungeons, they were curious to see if there was anything special about these parts.
Glancing at them, Arthur also followed their movements and began studying the area, seeing that the village head couldn't give a satisfactory answer.
He walked for a bit but didn't notice anything suspicious that could arouse his attention.
With nothing found, the three gathered back with the village head.
Rodrick glanced at them with caution. "Is there something wrong with the appearance of these dungeons here?"
Aella and the two glanced at each other before Aella flashed a smile and shook her head.
"No, there's nothing to worry about." After she finished speaking, she turned to the portal.
"I'll deal with the portal in the quickest time while you lead the other two to the remaining portals."
Rodrick's eyes narrowed slightly, feeling that there must be something hidden beneath the surface.
After all, the appearance of these dungeons was too mysterious.
With a slight frown, he decided not to ponder on it.
As long as this group could clear the dungeons, he felt nothing could possibly go wrong.
With a nod, he gestured for Aella to enter the dungeon and proceeded to lead Arthur and Jason to the nearest one, Titan following behind them like a monster.
