Arthur glanced around and finally spotted Rodrick, the Village Head, on the ground.
He was dead and his corpse was unrecognisable, as though the life had been drained out of him.
With a heavy heart he stared at him and frowned slightly.
"It seems he is dead. They were most likely here for him."
"And us too," Jason added, standing up from the ground.
"It was truly too deadly this time and we almost lost our life. There's no chance to survive the next one," Jason continued with a heavy heart.
Arthur's eyes flickered with a calculative light and he had to admit, Jason was right.
His heart was filled with emotions as he glanced at Aella.
"Can you stand up? We should return to the Academy now. We won't survive the next wave of attack."
Arthur wasn't sure he could even survive the next wave with his Calamities around, but if they returned to the Academy they could at least report whatever was happening here.
He no longer had much interest in growing his summoned Calamities for now, at least not until everything calmed down a bit.
"That's not possible anymore." Aella shook her head as she stood up from the ground with an exhausted expression on her face.
Jason and Arthur looked at her quizzically.
Aella sighed then explained, "The journey back to the Academy will take more than three days. In that time we have to rest at least a little bit. If we decide to do so we will definitely get eliminated in the next wave of attack."
Glancing at them, Aella explained again with a tired look on her face.
It was clear that even she was weighed down by the situation.
"What?" Arthur exclaimed in shock, and Jason's eyes narrowed in disbelief.
What Aella said was… true.
And it was exactly because of that truth that their hearts became unsettled.
Glancing at Aella, they frowned.
Jason muttered, "So we can only welcome our death because we chose to explore the place for a little bit?"
He spoke with a self deprecating smile, unable to blame anyone but himself.
Aella's eyes flickered slightly as she stared at both of them.
"There's a chance that we'll survive this."
"Survive?" Arthur replied without hesitation. "How?"
Jason's curious gaze also landed on her.
"If we head to the Wasteland."
"The place brimming with dungeons?"
Aella nodded.
"Since there are dungeons there, strong players regulate the place and it will be easy for us to save ourselves in their hands. It's about two days journey if we head there by morning. This is the only option we have."
Hearing her words, Arthur and Jason fell silent.
The suggestion seemed worthwhile but was it feasible?
This was them placing all their bets on a probability.
The probability that the Shadows wouldn't find them before then.
"There's no other way. We can only go along with this plan." After pondering for a bit, Arthur replied with a resigned expression.
They stared at Jason, waiting for his reply.
Jason finally shrugged.
"What other option do we have?"
Hearing Jason's words, the two stared at him and let out a breath.
"Gather whatever is needed for now. Morning is a few hours away, and by then we'll leave," Aella advised them.
Arthur nodded and departed, walking toward the two summons who were still in their Calamity state.
"There's no more danger for now, but there will be soon. Before then…" Arthur turned to Nephis, "I want you to reach Level 15."
Nephis' eyes lit up at Arthur's words.
"Master… this." She felt the urge to rush up and kiss Arthur intensely.
'Wait, why am I thinking something like that in such a dangerous situation?' Nephis blushed slightly at her own thought. Thankfully Arthur couldn't fully see her face or he would have noticed her embarrassment.
"Can you guys hold the Calamity state for longer?"
Nephis felt her body briefly then replied as Titan couldn't speak.
"It's still bearable for now but the pain and destruction to our body is worsening as time passes. The drain on our mana is also in a similar state."
"I see." Arthur nodded as four objects appeared in his hands.
The moment the objects appeared, Jason's eyes bulged as though he had seen something terrifying.
"Top grade potions???" he screamed in disbelief, staring at Arthur like he had just witnessed a ghost.
These were potions that even the leader of his Royal Family didn't dare touch, and yet Arthur was handing them out casually like toys.
What in the world was going on?
For a moment Jason questioned his sanity.
Arthur glanced at Jason speechlessly, not expecting such a display from him.
His gaze shifted to Aella. Her reaction wasn't as exaggerated but the disbelief on her face was clear.
'Are top grade potions truly that rare?' Arthur lampooned inwardly as he gave them a wry smile.
Titan collected the potions and smashed them on his body without hesitation.
Immediately, Jason felt like puking blood from anger and shock.
Two whole top grade potions were destroyed like that?
What was wrong with this bunch?
He glanced at Arthur hatefully, and if looks could kill, Arthur would have died countless times over.
Calming himself down, he turned away and no longer paid Arthur any attention so he wouldn't die from sheer anger.
'What's wrong with him?' Arthur looked a bit bewildered by Jason's reaction.
Nephis collected her own potion with gratitude and drank it without hesitation.
Her aura changed subtly but with the previous potion still in effect it wasn't very noticeable.
"In the meantime, I will clear the remaining dungeons in the villages to purge out the danger," Arthur said heroically as he faced the other two.
Aella stared at him speechlessly. "Is that so? Do you want us to help out?"
Given he had a top grade potion, it was understandable how Arthur had the confidence to clear the remaining surrounding dungeons.
Arthur shook his head. "There's no need for that."
He dismissed them then placed his hand on Titan's Dragon Armor. It was cold to the touch and Arthur felt its extremely tough back flickering with faint dying embers of Calamity energy.
Nephis wrapped her arm around Arthur's single arm and stared at Aella a little provocatively, leaving her dumbfounded.
However, the next moment Titan vanished with them, using his Space element to disappear.
"Well… I guess we can get ready in the meantime," Aella said with a light smile.
Jason nodded, though the image of the top grade potion was hard for him to suppress.
Should he ask Arthur for one? Should he plead or demand it?
'Wait, with such monstrosities with him, can I even demand anything from him?' Jason was speechless at his own thoughts.
It seemed his arrogance needed to be reduced some more.
…
With Titan leading them, it took more than five minutes of travel before they finally found a dungeon.
Sensing the aura of an E Rank dungeon, Arthur led his two Calamities in without hesitation.
A slaughter ensued and within barely five minutes they were done with the dungeon.
The three moved like Reapers under the dark of the night, claiming the lives of dungeon creatures at an alarming speed.
In barely two hours they had cleared at least ten dungeons.
And they weren't even getting started.
Arthur moved to the nearby villages, clearing dungeons without a care in the world as his strength increased at an alarming rate.
After more than six hours had passed and morning was gradually arriving, Arthur let out an exhausted sigh as he led his two Calamities into the last dungeon.
This time it was another D Rank, unlike the others that were E Rank.
"After this dungeon, we should be done with the dungeons here."
Arthur also felt incredulous at the fact that he had cleared so many dungeons and still hadn't encountered a Celestial Stone.
'Is it so hard to awaken the Fourth Calamity?' Arthur felt speechless at the thought as his anticipation grew.
He turned his attention back to the dungeon in front of him.
The sight of something like a burial ground was revealed to him.
As though sensing his presence, skeletons began crawling out from the graveyards littered around.
Arthur felt chills in the graveyard, as though he was being watched by the Grim Reaper.
Turning to Nephis and Titan he said with a slight shrug,
"Decimate everything."
At Arthur's command, the aura of Calamity around the two intensified slightly as they vanished and the massacre began.
Titan was like a war machine and everywhere his blade swung the graves exploded, scattering bones and skeletal remains.
Meanwhile Nephis was like a god killer, slicing through skeletons before they could understand what was happening.
It was a one sided slaughter and within moments they had dealt with the dungeon.
A line of words appeared in front of Arthur's sight the moment he cleared it completely.
[Congratulations on clearing 100 dungeons, you have received a unique title 'Dungeon Devil']
[Congratulation your Third Calamity has reached Level 15 and is awakening her Physique…]
'Damn.' Arthur muttered internally, his excitement hard to suppress.
