Devil Equinox

Chapter 17: A DARK VISITOR

Eliza seemed disheartened in the exchange of dialogue and was very reluctant at first. I walked over to her and placed my left hand on her right shoulder and convinced her to go through with it. She held on to her reluctance and looking at me she finally agreed. It was hard for her to go through with this.

"How are we going to destroy it? With explosives, maybe?" Donny asked.

"No, we had tried that. It can't be destroyed with explosives." Eliza said.

Questions begun to surface in my head. These gates might not be simply built maybe they used magic to hold their structure and be used to travel from one dimension to another. I stepped away from Eliza and went deep into thought. I looked at Tarius and he knew what I was thinking at that moment.

I walked over to him and asked Marie to give us a moment to speak and she went to try and talk to Laura to comfort her or something along those lines. "It may seem that the dimensional gate is infused with magic holding it together and that any man-made explosive cannot damage the structure," I said.

"Hmm, then it needs a magical weapon of some sort,"

"That was what I had in mind, however I cannot use my power to summon my blade, and thus I would require yours,"

"Brother you do know that I cannot summon my weapons like you, right?"

I grinned in front of him mischievously. It made him a bit uneasy since he did not know my intentions but felt that it wasn't good in anyway. Though I wore my eyepatch which made me more serious and contained a lot of my power. Some of my actual personality slipped through some of the cracks.

"Tarius, you of all angels should realise lying to me is futile. Though there are humans who don't know of you and your nature some situations require compromise, and you know that full and well."

"Ravedos, you aren't going to persuade me in anyway to accomplish anything you have planned. I accepted your friend's, Dante's, offer to help you in your mission and that did not include using my weapons."

"Even though you put it that way, I can't risk killing all of us and besides their system was designed to detect demons and my use of powers in the facility. If anything, this is your way of aiding me in the mission, although you do not want to intervene and jeopardise your task, there's nothing we can do really without any outside help,"

"Fine but this is the last I bestow my blade upon you for your use,"

I nodded and took a few steps back. Tarius took a deep breath and gave out a deep sigh. Then the whole room was engulfed in a magnificent white light. I raised my hand to shield my eyes from the bright light. I wasn't the only one who did the same action, everyone in the room did it out of instinct. The light died out and in Tarius's left hand was a double-edged sword. He stretched out his sword in his hands careful carrying and I grabbed it and held it in one hand.

"What the hell is that!" Laura with her shotgun ready.

"Put down the shotgun Laura and let go out and deal with that dimensional gate," I told her pointing at the dimensional gate with the sword.

She looked out the glass, looked back at me and lowered her shotgun. "Whatever," she said. Eliza looked at me flabbergasted and she walked up to me. "How are you going destroy the dimensional gate with that sword?" Eliza asked. I looked into her eyes silent and walked out the glass door by the corner of the room. There were a flight of stairs that went down to the ground the dimensional gate was.

The walls and ceiling were all rocky and uneven. It clearly was apart to make a wide enough room for lights and other equipment to monitor the dimensional gate. Large containers scattered around the space containing electronic devices and computers.

I carried on toward the dimensional gate. It was an arc structure made up entirely out of stone and rocks held together by magic. Neither demon magic, angel magic nor elf magic was used, only the magic of the demon king or the Supreme Deity held them together. Explains why conventional methods did not succeed. What do I mean? Well there were forklifts and heavy machinery, looked like they were used to try and break it apart. The machinery was heavily damaged. No, I don't mean the drill bits or whatever, I mean the whole damn thing was damaged. Astonishing right? I thought the same as well.

I was close enough to it, I raised my hand holding the sword and swang. Before I could even hit the dimensional gate, it activated. Not long after a hand grabbed my arm, catching the sword mid swing and a shadowy figure stepped out. Their free hand, well, it connected with my abdomen with a violent that sent me hurling across the room, hitting the wall below the monitoring room.

'Shit!' I whispered under my breath.

I was stuck in the wall. I looked up at my attacker. That walked menacingly out of the dimensional gate fully and the dimensional gate closed behind, simply deactivating. The shadowy figure did not speak, only stared at me with their white eyes. I couldn't make out any prominent features on their body but their wings and above their heads was a broken halo.

'A fallen angel? What could it be doing here?' I whispered confused.

Let me give a breakdown. A fallen angel is an angel condemned by the Supreme Deity to this world or even hell for killing innocent humans or conducting profane actions that demons would do. Though they have no need to be coming after me unless I have killed humans or let my demonic urges take over. Yes, they come after me, elves and other angels who have killed humans, though they have not been a threat to me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked it.

It remained silent and looked around the room. Analysing its environment. Then it locked its eyes back on me, taking one step at a time getting nearer. I got out of the wall, cracked my neck and put down the sword I clenched in my hand. I took a deep breath and my eyepatch disappeared. I took the chance and nothing happened. No alarm went off, no self destruct sequence was initiated.

The realization hit me, I was technically outside the facility and there weren't any detectors in the room. It was good thing I needed to let off some steam. My power increased so much so that it left my body as an aura that spread through out the room. The fallen angel sensed and made a dead stop in front of me. It knew what was about to happen. From my perspective it wasn't scared, it was comprehending the situation and planned out how it was going to proceed.

We both stood there awaiting one another to make the first move. I felt invigorated after so long. A formidable to face.

I took only a mere step and it vanished.
