The team had tried fighting Darius on several occasions while he had stayed with us for a few days. I still remember that they hated the idea that Donny and I brought him there especially Veronicah. She still bared hatred toward him for what he had done to her.
Six times I had to step in the way. Donny? Well, he didn't try to fight Darius since he had saved him. So, he finds it weird to like to hate him in any way. Though he thought about, he chose not to fight him.
"How the hell are we supposed to feel safe when we know what he can do to us, Captain!" Marie stated angrily.
The feeling of response fought fiercely to retort but I had managed to control it. His stay is indefinite and that hadn't made the team feel safe. We were split two even and that left Dante, who was no where to be seen in the safe room. "Shit! Where the fuck is Dante?" I asked everyone who remained with him and they hadn't noticed when he had left. 'Shit! Well, I guess I shouldn't worry as much.' I thought to myself and then my Mind had said, "Is Dante really as irrelevant as you say he is?"
"What?" my Body asked.
"Don't you think losing the second strongest after is not so dangerous to have in the wrong hands? Maybe it is unclear to you or that you are oblivious to the fact that your enemy may have other ways of having other than persuasion." My Mind said.
"Could it be they had something to do with that doppelganger of mine? Or are we speculating?" my Body asked.
"They had nothing to do with your doppelganger." Fragius intervened.
To their surprise both my Mind and Body were perplexed at the revelation. "What do you mean?" Both asked in unison.
Fragius's face darkened and looked grim. Before he could respond the angel, Aro, spoke on his behalf saying, "He was created by someone else not from this city, maybe a project by the one you trust most with your secret." They looked at each other suspicious and looked back at the demon and the angel and had asked them a simple question, "How do you know it wasn't by the leader of these wannabes? Are you insinuating that Mynde had something to do with the doppelganger? Why would he betray us since he has no benefit in doing such?"
The angel stammered with her words and rightfully so, luckily for her I was snapped out of my thoughts by incessant murmur happening in the room. Donny tried putting good light on Darius, even though Veronicah and Marie did not accept his words. I stepped in and spoke, "Nobody, and I mean nobody fucking fights! No fucking fighting! You hear!"
They all were surprised except for Darius and so I spoke to him in front of his face, "If anyone of my team dies, I will send you back home to speak with father. So, I find best you be careful with your next words and your next actions because it is important that you do not choose poorly."
Out in the streets of the Downtown Sector we searched for Dante and in the alley ways we had found a trail of dead bodies. The Harlem's men were here, and we were following Dante's last known status – he liked coming to this sector, and we were following assumptions, however they were proven to be true – being coming to this sector.
Several lifeless bodies lay on the ground and others either impaled, hanging from an open window or on the fire escape. They were similar to those from the factory and some of the demons were amongst the pile. As we treaded through the alley way, one of the demons jumped out but didn't attack us, instead pled for its life saying, "Please, kill me!" and it was in pain. Darius did not hesitate and decapitated the demon, leaving only the remains of the neck on the body spewing blood uncontrollably showering us in its blood.
"Ugh, what the fuck is this! It stings!" Marie shouted.
"Demon blood is not meant to be felt by humans after all, though this is not pure demon blood. It shouldn't harm you humans this much." Darius stated.
"The demon is right, this is not pure demon blood," Veronicah verified.
"Then what the fuck is it?" Donny asked.
"It is a forced combination of human and demon blood. This must come from the demon enhancements. It might explain why Maggie didn't have any on or Igiris." I spoke. "Look we will discuss this after finding Dante."
We proceeded our search for him and a street across we had a scream. A male scream from a pastry building that currently had customers being served. Inside it had a sweet aroma of freshly baked pastries from cakes to cupcakes, eclairs to melting moments and so much that were offered. By the counter stood two employees who handled the customers orders, wearing their work uniforms.
They noticed work in and one of them became nervous. I went to them and acted like a customer while the others set down at one the tables inside. "H-hi there. W-welcome to Sweet Treats. I am J-josh, h-how may I help y-you," Josh stammered through out his sentences. I narrowed my eyes feeling suspicious of him, but I let slide.
His co-worker noticed his act and stepped in for him. "Hi, I am Stella, and welcome to Sweet Treats," she introduced. "How many I help you, sir. And I do sincerely apologise for my co-worker over there." She put on a fake smile in order to throw me. I noticed her eyes veer off to look at my team a few times while I pretended to read the menu.
After a moment I spoke in a deep, intimidating tone, "A friend of mine is missing and I am sure you know where he could be." Unshaken, she smiled slyly and said, "I don't know who you are talking about, sir. No one was taken and no one is missing. I think you should go to the police and file a missing persons report. If you aren't going to order anything I am afraid you're going to have to leave along with your group."
Looking at her and realising how impressive she is at lying, I gave her a smirk and left the counter. Heading back to my team to speak with them, I noticed a plastic bag in the corner hidden behind the small, planted tree, I knew something was wrong. "He's here," I whispered to my team and Darius.
Alone I went to the entrance and flipped over the sign when there were no other customers. I looked back at the employees and smiled smugly. "You, Stellar, are smart but you made a mistake with that trash bag," I told her giving her the chance to fess up.
"Ah, shit! I forgot to throw out the trash, in fact I didn't have the chance to threw it out because of the influx of customers this morning," she lied almost convincingly.
"You know, that would've been true. Dante, I guess you aren't strong enough to beat these two low levels," I said.
That's when a voice shouted in anger, "It couldn't have taken you any fuck… Mhh, mhh!" Stellar shut him up, laughing maniacally. "Well done. I guess that lie couldn't get you Ravedos." She spoke in a soft, seductive voice.
"I wonder what brings you out here Prince Darius. Is it to get on his good side?"
I looked back at Darius, he and the others were showing facial expressions of worry, fear and concern. In that moment they had tried to get up from the table they set at to come up to me. It was peculiar. But not unusual. What am I saying? Why are they giving me that look? Slowing looking back Stellar and Josh were attacking. What is this feeling? Fear? No, it can't be.
Standing in what felt like my execution room. I couldn't move. 'Nooooooo!' a voice shouted echoing in my head. In the last moments of my life, again, I closed my eyes. 'You shall fight for your life Ravedos, it must happen now,' a calm and soothing voice spoke. When I least realised it my sword appeared in front of me, I could sense it. It had life to it.
