Dimension Master

Chapter 113: 113: Back to Draco

Drake slammed his staff into the ground. A brilliant green light surrounded him and his cohort. When it vanished, he was standing in front of the sign welcoming them to Draco Town.

They stood in front of the sign before entering the town.

"We need to find Nana. Since we're returning home, I need to make sure that she doesn't have a letter for us to give to Bren," Drake told his friends. "I want to see Nelly and Tod as well."

"I enjoyed watching Gelda's egg hatch. Daisy is beautiful," Chad said as he smiled widely.

Mike nodded in agreement. He also enjoyed it. "I hope Bren will make her a doll. I don't remember seeing anything that looked like a golden troll while we were at his shop last time."

"Let's get it ordered first thing, so if he has to make it, we can pick it up before we come back here," Drake told his friends. He looked at Ruby and Renn. "Do you two want to come back with us?"

Renn immediately transformed into her rat form and leaped onto Drake's shoulder. To Drake's surprise, so did Ruby. This made Drake smile widely.

They continued down Draco's main street, then turned off onto a side street. When they reached Nana's home, Drake knocked on the door.

They could hear footsteps rushing to the front door as they waited on the porch. When the door opened, it was Nana.

"Hi, Nana. We are about to head back home. I wanted to see if you had another letter for Bren. We also wanted to see Nelly and Tod," Drake explained.

Nana smiled widely. "Your fathers are at the tavern waiting for you. I think they expected you to finish soon, so they waited. They stayed the night at the inn. Last I heard, they were at the Tavern. I'll jot down a letter for Bren and meet you there with the kids."

Nodding, Drake headed toward the tavern. Chad and Mike followed Drake, while Renn and Ruby remained on his shoulder and watched their surroundings.

The streets had normal foot traffic. People were going about their business, doing what they needed to do, and getting their chores done.

Everyone waved and smiled as they passed. Drake and his friends waved back. "It feels different, doesn't it?" Mike pointed out. "Everyone seems different. I think they're happy we brought them back. Either that, or that our grandfathers are in the dimensional prison. From what I could tell, they seemed not to care for the dimension or the people and creatures that live here."

Chad nodded. He was still smiling about witnessing the birth of the baby troll. "When we get back from the ordinary world, we'll be on quest number 4. I want to get home and take a proper shower before it starts. I'm hoping that it doesn't start the moment we exit the tavern."

Drake sighed. "I forgot about that place being our starting point. I want to return too because I want to get Daisy her doll. It would be great if he already has something, but if not, I'm willing to wait for him to make one."

Mike rushed in front of Drake and pulled the tavern door open, holding it for Drake and Chad, who stepped inside. Mike followed behind them, letting the door swing closed on its own.

All eyes turned to them as they entered.

Gavin turned, smiled, and then went back to his stein. Mayor Ivan rushed over to them. He was smiling widely. "Thank you!" he said gratefully.

Drake had no idea what he was thanking him for.

Seeing Drake's confusion, he explained. "For saving us from the goblins."

Understanding what Ivan was talking about, he nodded. "They won't bother you again. They're now my allies."

There were gasps throughout the tavern. Drake looked at all the faces that were staring at him and his cohort in shock. Drake explained. "The goblins took you as a test for me and my cohort. I guess I passed, because after a few threats, they bowed and became my allies. I warned them not to try anything like that again. They explained they had a problem with the previous dimension master. I explained that we were only heirs, but they didn't care. They wanted to make sure my friends and I were worthy to finish the quests. They didn't want a repeat of something that had happened in the past." Drake looked at his father, who was watching. "You were there and heard what they said. Because of what happened near the bridge, I'm guessing he was talking about them?" he asked.

Drake Sr. nodded. "They were, and those in question are still in the dimensional prison."

"That's good, because the entire incident sucked. No wonder you never told us about our grandfathers; they're total jerks."

"What took so long?" Chad Sr. asked. "You should have been back here yesterday."

This made Mike grin wider. "Well, Drake found a golden egg stored in a book he received from that incident. It turned out that the golden egg was the golden troll's daughter; Drake's grandfather stole the egg from her. She let us watch her hatch because we returned her egg. The baby's name is Daisy, and if you're wondering. The golden troll is Gelda."

Drake Sr. raised his brow. "I'm guessing the trolls are allies as well?"

Drake nodded. "Yep, Gelda and Daisy are now allies. I need to get Bren to make her a baby troll doll."

As soon as he spoke Bren's name, everyone went silent. Someone Drake didn't know spoke in a whisper. "He's alive?" The one who spoke stood up and approached Drake in shock. "Bren is alive?" he asked again.

Drake nodded. "Yes, he owns a toy shop where I live."

Tears ran down the man's face. Joy radiated from him. He was happy that Bren was still alive.

"If you want to write him, I'll deliver the letter when we return to restock supplies," Drake offered. "We're leaving in a little while, so just bring them before we leave."
