The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master

Chapter 754: Absolutely Stunning (Part 4)

At this, Winter Sullivan couldn’t resist adding, “And another thing—she’s the one who pushed me, landing me in the hospital last time. During my entire stay, she never once came to visit. So what if I have a few choice words for her?”

Julian Caldwell froze. Winter Sullivan gave a cold laugh. “In your eyes, no one is more precious than her. I won’t stick around and be a nuisance. Since you’re here, you can take care of her. I’m leaving.”

With that, she turned to leave. Julian knew they were already at odds, and if she left now, their conflict would only be harder to resolve. He quickly reached out and grabbed her hand. “I only said one thing. Why are you getting so upset? Winter, let’s talk this out!”

“There’s nothing for us to talk about.” Winter Sullivan pulled her hand from his grasp and walked out without a second glance.

Julian Caldwell’s brow furrowed as he watched her leave. Forgetting about Susan Caldwell for the moment, he hurried out after her. Susan Caldwell, watching them from the room, bit her lip.

Julian caught up to Winter and said, “I know we have our differences when it comes to raising Susan, but in my opinion, this isn’t that serious. Susan is my daughter, and she’s your daughter too. We both want what’s best for her.”

“Winter, you’ve been so irritable lately. You should really stay away from that Vera Xavier girl!”

Winter Sullivan looked at him in confusion. “What does Vera Xavier have to do with any of this?”

“Don’t you know that Susan got hurt today because of Vera Xavier?” Julian asked.

Sheldon Caldwell had already told Winter what happened today, so she knew exactly why Susan was injured.

She looked at Julian. “Of course I know. I’m just curious—since you know what happened, why are you still defending Susan?”

“Because she’s our daughter!” Julian shot back. “And because that Vera Xavier has had bad intentions from the start. Don’t let her fool you!”

Winter Sullivan closed her eyes for a moment before speaking slowly. “Have you ever even met Vera Xavier? Do you know anything about her?”

Julian froze. A distinct chill entered Winter’s voice. “You don’t even know her, so what gives you the right to talk about her like that? As far as I’m concerned, she’s a thousand, a million times better than your precious daughter!”

“And besides all that, Julian, it’s time we dealt with our own issues.”

She finished, then glanced at her watch. “It’s four o’clock. The Civil Affairs Bureau is still open. I have our household registration and marriage certificate on me. Let’s go. Let’s get the divorce finalized.”

Staring at her ice-cold expression, Julian finally realized her words from yesterday hadn’t just been said in a fit of anger. She was serious about divorcing him.

He said in disbelief, “Winter, this isn’t a game. Don’t be rash!”

“I’m not being impulsive. In fact, I’ve been thinking about this for a very long time,” Winter said slowly. “Julian, in a way, we’re from two different worlds. Since that’s the case, we might as well set each other free.”

Anger churned in Julian’s eyes. ‘How could she bring up divorce at the drop of a hat?’

He said in a low, heavy voice, “Winter Sullivan, you’re not a child anymore. We’re parents. Do you have any idea what kind of impact a decision like this will have? What will Susan think? What will everyone else think of us?”
