Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 593: A Belated Confession

After a long moment, Stella Sterling learned from Gordon Ford what had happened to him recently.

Gordon Ford didn’t hide anything from her, telling her the whole story in detail.

He hadn’t actually been reborn; he had simply remembered everything that happened in his past life.

That was why his mind was in chaos. The memories of two lifetimes merged and clashed, and for a time, he couldn’t tell if it was his past life or the present.

As a result, when he regained his memories, he couldn’t make sense of anything. To outsiders, he seemed to have gone mad, rambling incoherently and speaking incomprehensible gibberish.

And since he remembered the events of his past life, he also knew that Stella Sterling had died.

But the Stella Sterling before him was clearly alive and well. For a moment, he couldn’t be sure and found it hard to believe.

That’s why he had gone to Mirefall to investigate the situation.

He had to confirm whether Stella Sterling was still alive.

But in the end, he was unexpectedly captured by Caleb Xavier.

He only found out later that Caleb Xavier, unlike him, had truly been reborn.

According to his recovered memories, after he learned of Stella’s death in his past life, he had been constantly trying to find a way to return to the past.

He hadn’t succeeded, but he never gave up. Later, he discovered that Stella Sterling had been in contact with Caleb Xavier before her death, and that he was, in fact, the one who had killed her.

So he found Caleb Xavier and orchestrated a plan to kill him.

However, by a strange twist of fate, Caleb Xavier was reborn into the past.

And as for Gordon Ford, while he hadn’t been reborn, he had also remembered all the events of his past life.

He was captured by Caleb Xavier while investigating these matters.

Caleb Xavier captured him but never killed him, his goal being to force the method of returning to the past life out of him.

Caleb Xavier didn’t want to experience everything all over again. After all, in that future timeline, he had already reached the pinnacle of power and had no desire to endure these disasters a second time.

But Gordon Ford never spoke, so Caleb had no choice but to keep him locked up, until he was rescued by Stella Sterling’s people today.

As she listened, Stella Sterling nodded. She now had a general understanding of the situation.

She just hadn’t expected Gordon Ford to have known about her death in the last life.

After all, in the year she died, she and Gordon Ford hadn’t seen each other for seven years and had long since lost all contact.

She never imagined he would later get news about her, let alone go to such lengths afterward.

Andrew Shaw had called Gordon Ford a madman before, and only now did she realize he had become that way because of her.

At this thought, Stella Sterling’s usually placid heart began to stir.

She looked at the man before her with a complex expression, her emotions churning.

‘In her past life, she had misunderstood Gordon Ford, and after so many years had passed, she had long since buried her feelings for him deep in her heart.’

‘If she hadn’t met him again this time, and if he hadn’t been so persistent in pursuing her, they would have long since become strangers.’

‘But to think that he hadn’t given up on her, not just in this life, but in the last one too. He had been searching for news of her, and when he finally found it, it was news of her death.’

‘And for her sake, he had been researching a way to go back in time.’

At that moment, Stella Sterling’s voice was hoarse. “You…”

She had just spoken a single word when Gordon Ford pulled her into another embrace. “Don’t talk. Let me hold you. I’ve missed you so much. Seeing you like this, so vibrant and alive… it’s wonderful!”

As he spoke, his voice broke with emotion.

Stella Sterling didn’t push him away. Instead, she patted his back and said gently, “I’m alive, and I’m doing well. You don’t have to be afraid.”

Gordon Ford nodded. Then, as if he’d remembered something, he said hurriedly, “Before, when I missed our meeting, it wasn’t intentional. It was because…”

Before he could finish, Stella Sterling interrupted him. “I know. You’ve already explained it to me before, remember?”

Gordon Ford froze for a moment, only then recalling that he had indeed explained it to Stella Sterling before.

But with so many memories flooding his mind at once, he was a mess and couldn’t distinguish if he was the Gordon Ford of the past life or the present one.

‘He didn’t know if his situation even counted as a rebirth. After all, his past-life self hadn’t died, and his present self was alive and well. How could he have suddenly been reborn?’

Seeing the conflicted look on his face, Stella Sterling stopped him. “Hey, don’t overthink it. The fact that I’m okay right now is the best thing that could happen. You don’t need to worry so much about the rest.”

Gordon Ford nodded, his eyes lighting up again. “You’re right. You being alive is the best thing!”

Then, he looked at Stella Sterling cautiously. “Stella Sterling, I looked for you for so long in my last life, and I’ve pursued you for so long in this one. Can you give me a chance?”

Before Stella could speak, he continued, “The confession I never had the chance to make in our past life—I want to say it to you now. Stella Sterling, I love you. Will you be with me?”

The people from Caeluna Base let out a collective gasp when they heard this.

‘This Mr. Ford is bold, daring to confess to Sterling like that.’

‘But what’s Sterling’s answer going to be?’

Everyone stared at Stella Sterling curiously. After Stella shot them a glare, they all hurriedly turned around and covered their ears, feigning ignorance.

Andrew Shaw also gave the two of them a complicated look.

‘Those two had been completely lost in their own world just now, not bothering to lower their voices. And since he was standing so close, he had heard their entire conversation crystal clear.’

‘My previous guess was right. The reason Gordon Ford turned into such a psycho was entirely because of Stella Sterling.’

‘Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but silently give Stella Sterling a thumbs-up. ‘She really is something else,” he thought.

He shook his head and turned away.

Meanwhile, Gordon Ford was still staring intently at Stella Sterling, waiting for an answer.

Stella Sterling could feel the hand holding hers was tense and sweaty. She chuckled softly.

She tapped her chin, then leaned close to Gordon Ford and whispered in his ear, “I accept your confession.”

Gordon Ford’s expression instantly brightened, but Stella Sterling continued, “You don’t know what’s been going on at your Meridia Base yet. A lot has happened, and I helped out a great deal. Knowing my personality, do you really think I would have been so dedicated to Meridia Base’s affairs if it weren’t for you?”

Of course, Stella Sterling would have done so regardless, but in front of Gordon Ford, she had to let him know that she cared for him too.

Gordon Ford froze for a second, then stepped forward and hugged her again. “This is amazing. In this life, I will never let go of your hand again.”
