Chapter 4839 Fumbling Illumina
"I'm not sure." Illumina started, sounding unsure, "My inherited memories seemed to only consist of the cannibalistic method vaguely, but upon further research by Vereina, we found out that it is possible for one to refine the beast core by constantly practicing soul cultivation for billions of years in our natural environment."
She lowered her head, "This was not feasible no matter how we look at it and living for billions of years doesn't mean that it is guaranteed for a core to be refined, so we looked more into it and found that if we could consume a celestial spirit or a quintessence orb of a similar type and grade to refine our cores, it would be useful."
"Quintessence Orbs are useful…?"
Davis's brows raised. He had a few types of Quintessence Orbs collected from the Shard Continent.
"These are only rumors going around in the Exalt Clans of the Nether Dimension, so I'm not sure if they truly apply."
Illumina said apologetically, causing Davis to wave his hand.
"Any information is better than none. Thanks for telling me."
"The Twelve Paragon Magical Beasts are said to represent elements in different ways, meaning that they are considered sources or could own primordial sources of the heaven and earth."
"True, the rabbit is said to represent utmost yin. If I had a Shadow Quintessence Orb, I wouldn't need another King-Tier Spectral Gloomveil Rabbit's Magical Beast Core."
"Wait- you-" Davis looked dumbfounded, "You hunted down a King of your species clan?"
Illumina appeared a bit solemn, "Yes, only a King-Tier Spectral Gloomveil Rabbit's Magical Beast Core can possibly satisfy an Emperor-Tier like me. Besides, only an Emperor-Tier Grand Ancestral Beast is capable of becoming a True Exalt Beast. Even King-Tiers aren't worthy after core refinement."
Davis's eyes widened, "You mean a magical beast must be born as an Emperor-Tier Beast as well as be Grand Ancestral Beast Rank for them to be able to innately become a True Exalt Beast without Core Refinement?"
"Yes, according to what we heard, refining an Emperor-Tier Beast's Core of similar species and rank has a eighty ti ninety percent chance for the Core Refinement to succeed as long as the one consuming is at Emperor-Tier. The King-Tier ones only provide a twenty to thirty percent success rate, but I managed to succeed in one try."
"That's great!" Davis smiled, looking elated, "You have immense luck."
Illumina looked slightly ashamed, "But the main issue is- I was invited on the basis of being an Empress, but the young King wanted my Emperor-Tier Blood, so I conveniently killed him by bringing him to the nearest exit and took off. Hence, we offended a few Spectral Gloomveil Rabbit Clans and had to escape for our lives. Fortunately, I was strong enough to leave after refining my core."

"…" Davis looked at her with an incredulous gaze.
He had only thought she had killed an ordinary or maybe an important son or daughter of a beast with status, power, and influence, but he was shocked that she actually killed a King-Tier Spectral Gloomveil Rabbit.
She made it sound so ordinary, yet had done an enormous thing. If he were to compare it, that would be equivalent to killing the Young Patriarch of an Exalt Grade power in an Upper Realm.
Davis was quiet as he remained speechless.
She took a great risk offending a Spectral Gloomveil Rabbit Clan instead of being content with the power she had gained. She wanted to become stronger- all to protect him- all to be useful by the time he ascends.
She put herself in immense danger just for him.
"I know." Illumina lowered her head, "I was invited cordially, but I acted against them. I betrayed what could've been my new clan, and that speaks ill of me. But I swear, my loyalty lies with you. I won't do anything that will betray your trust."
"Silly rabbit…" Davis raised his hand, pressing his hand on her cheek, "I know your loyalty lies with me. You swore it as a warrior, didn't you?"
"…" Illumina absentmindedly nodded.
Her gaze went beyond the realms as Davis's face was so close. Perhaps it was her imagination that she could see him getting closer and closer until his lips touched hers.
"Mhm?"
Illumina shook.
Davis kissed her lightly with warmth before he moved back, his expression charming, "I will be eagerly awaiting the day you swear loyalty again, but you have to do that as my wife."
He said, causing Illumina's cheeks to blush heavily.
Davis could hear her heart pounding. He couldn't believe how feminine she was despite acting as a cold warrior. It almost made him want to pin her down and finish the deal, but looking at her current state, he knew to be prudent and also be respectful.
"Master.. You can't… You can't act like this…" Illumina turned to look away, even her pale neck blushing.
Davis blinked, "I am sincere in wanting to court you. I believe I mentioned this in the letter back then, or is there a problem?"
"No- I-" Illumina turned to look at him. She tried to say something, but appeared to be at a loss for words.
"I'm just a mere maid…" She finally said as she pouted.
Davis nearly scoffed, "Yeah, right… the heavens will grow jealous and kill me for having a True Exalt Beast maid. You're just a tad bit more shy than the others. Don't worry, I will guide you in the future."
Davis said as he placed his hand on her thigh, lightly caressing it. When his hand brushed past an area where her skirt was torn, he inwardly blinked as he felt a lovely sensation float across his palm as though he was petting the smooth fur of a rabbit.
It tickled his senses, but Illumina looked like a rabbit that jolted and fled on being found by a hunter.
She stood up and took two steps back immediately, causing Davis to awkwardly take back his hand.
"Guess that's too soon for you…"
"No, I didn't mean to- ah~"
Illumina reached out her hand and walked towards him, but somehow tripped and fell clumsily, directly falling on his lap. She gasped as she saw his face so close again.
Her actions dumbfounded Davis again. How could a warrior like Illumina be this clumsy when in love? She was completely acting like an innocent maiden in love, and the best thing was that he couldn't tell if it was real or not, since she was so powerful.
Instantly, he grabbed her cheeks and pulled her in for a kiss again.
"…!" Illumina felt electrified.
The sudden pleasurable sensation enveloping her lips made her feel different and suddenly emboldened. She moved her hands and clawed Davis's shoulders in excitement in an attempt to hold him, but that made him wince instead.
"Ah- I'm-" Illumina reacted apologetically.
"It doesn't matter." Davis grabbed her waist and made her sit on his lap.
He knew her legs turned limp for her to obediently turn around. With his arm wrapped around her, one hand roamed over her wonderfully big breasts while he used the other to make her look at him and continue kissing.
"Mhn… Master~"
Davis felt the tremor that ran through her body. Not knowing how to kiss, she opened and closed her mouth like a goldfish, making him feel more enamored. He slowed, made her practice with his lips.
The fervor in his movements softened, his hands easing, thumbs brushing lightly along her jaw as he broke the kiss just enough for their foreheads to rest together. Their breaths mingled, but Illumina's was shallow and uneven, her heart pounding so much that Davis could still feel it.
"Take it easy." Davis said calmly and lovingly, "We're not going anywhere. After you healed, we'll continue and perhaps even do it all the way, okay?"
"Waa?~" Illumina's words got caught in her throat.
Her long, black-white rabbit ears flattened and tried to hide her face, but it couldn't, betraying her emotions that were plain to see, so she buried her face against his shoulder.
"Pleash make me happy~" Her voice was muffled, but he could still hear it.
"…?"
Davis was dumbfounded.
He had meant it as a way to tease her, but she had given her consent instead. His breath hitched inside his throat, and greed, love, and lust swelled in his heart together, breaking down his mental defenses.
It wouldn't be a lie to say that he had some ideas about Illumina's primal yin because that would prove to be extremely fruitful in raising his cultivation. He imagined that he could quickly raise his Empyrean Stage cultivation to the Mid Stage.
After coming this far in his romantic life, his boundaries were already crumbling away. He was having an affair with Frostrose, took advantage of Fairy Thunderblaze's obsession, and accepted Jade Aurora's affection without producing deep and sincere loving emotions for any of them as he did back then, so he was already at a point where he had contempt for himself and had little qualms about taking advantage right now.
However, for Illumina, he was overflowing with deep emotions for her, so the temptation was unbearable.
But the problem was that he hadn't even solidified his cultivation yet, so it would be dangerous.
He couldn't afford to let the annihilative heavenly yang bedrock of his Empyrean Vessel crumble.
'Wait a minute… isn't her primal yin of extreme yin attribute of nether and shadow…? It could appease my Empyrean Vessel, help it consolidate and not destroy it instead…'
Davis nearly sucked in a cold breath. Once he thought of it like this, he found it hard to hold back, his hands barely keeping to himself.
But suddenly, Illumina went stiff before she forcefully looked above, her eyes searching for something in the skies.
Davis's brows also furrowed as he felt a premonition.
Something was coming.
He hurriedly stood up as he guarded her, readying the Temporal Voidplane Ring, but he didn't think he would need it since he had set up powerful concealment formations.
However, the sensation of danger still didn't recede.
