Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4897 Ultimate Goal

Chapter 4897  Ultimate Goal

After some thought, Davis decided not reveal Zhao Yan's matter.

He would like to handle this one by himself and through Jiayi Crystalveil, as he felt the chances of succeeding using a non-Divergent to host the transaction were high.

The inner chamber fell into a heavy silence after Leader Arnoxin revealed that the Celestial Transcendent might return as early as three years. Davis garnered that the Heavenly Blight Hall at least took the Celestial Transcendent seriously despite their achievements.

Killing a Venerable Knight didn't get to their heads at all, and the leader remained calm-headed, allowing Davis to grasp the essence of the Heavenly Blight Hall.

"Three years is quite a short time for us." Leader Arnoxin broke the silence as he panned his gaze, "It will be in front of our eyes in an instant. If you're afraid, you're free to leave for another galaxy or dimension right now. I won't say anything, but I have decided to stay and fight back. The days of hiding like a turtle are over. We will hunt them down from the dark starting today."

"I will follow husband." The First Dark Apostle quickly enunciated her willingness.

"We haven't hit the layer limit yet…" The Third Dark Apostle's expression churned. However, he nodded after shooting a look at his twin brother.

"We also agree to stay and fight back."

The Third and Fourth Dark Apostle agreed.

"Heh! I've always been saying this…" The Second Dark Apostle snickered with a cruel smile.

They then all turned to look at Davis, who appeared silent.

Davis felt exhilarated at the prospect of hunting Heaven's Warriors. At this point, he was aware it was total war between them. However, he didn't let him get ahead of himself. With a languid smile, he raised his head as he asked Leader Arnoxin.

"What's the ultimate goal of the Heavenly Blight Hall, or specifically, yours, Leader Arnoxin?"

Leader Arnoxin gazed down at Davis, his eyes gleaming under the vivid nebulae colors.

"The ultimate goal of the Heavenly Blight Hall is the eradication of Heaven's Warriors and reigning supremacy over a galaxy."

"Reigning supremacy over a galaxy?" Davis's brows squinted, "At this point, I'd be all for that if it were possible, but it isn't with how the heavens treat us and the universe makes us feel unneeded, like we're foreign substances in one's body."

"We change that." Leader Arnoxin calmly answered.

"Hmm? How?" Davis asked.

"We destroy the heavens."

"!!!"

The moment those three words left Leader Arnoxin's mouth, the chamber rumbled.

The nebulae overhead convulsed, violet and abyssal blues collapsing inward like lungs forgetting how to breathe. The star-speckled void dimmed, as though unseen constellations had instinctively shut their eyes.

Fear… raw, ancient, instinctive surged through the inner chamber.

The calm Halbren felt his heart skip, a cold shock running from his spine to his limbs. His soul sea rippled violently, as if some long-buried memory had been struck awake. For an instant, he saw himself crushed beneath endless golden clouds, screaming as heavenly gaze ground him into dust.

Hallen fared no better. His knees nearly buckled while sitting as his cultivation instinctively recoiled, retreating inward like a beast curling up before a natural predator.

Even the Second Dark Apostle's cruel grin froze, his pupils shrinking. For the first time in a very long while, his mind failed to conjure mockery. The instinct that had kept him alive through endless slaughter whispered one thing only-

Run!

The First Dark Apostle stood perfectly still.

Her shoulders trembled, but not with fear alone, but with something dangerously close to exhilaration. Beneath her faceless mask, her breathing hitched as her soul burned hot, memories of persecution, isolation, and eternal flight surging like wildfire as she gazed at her man.

Her passion soared.

Destroy… the heavens…

She felt like falling in love with him all over again, even though she had just gotten the taste of it recently.

"Hahaah!"

Davis laughed out loud as he stood up and placed his foot on the table.

"Leader, are you serious?"

He had never heard something so incredulous like this from someone before. Not even Divergents dared to utter it because there were primal consequences for it! Transcendents would be struck by lightning, and in this case, it might be a punishment lightning. Who knew what would happen to Divergents?

Even in this space generated by the replica, or this was the replica itself, the shaking didn't stop.

The heaven and earth were furious!

Leader Arnoxin maintained a calm demeanor. It was unknown if it was a facade or a reality.

"Didn't you ask what my ultimate goal was? I thought it was time to reveal it now that we're striking back."

Davis couldn't stop grinning while the others looked shocked.

The leader had never revealed this to them since their goal was to only unite similar-minded Divergents under one banner and eliminate all the Heaven's Warriors for them to have a place to live and thrive in the manner they deemed worth living, no matter if it was evil or good, for it was something they would decide after they had become victors.

But now… the leader wanted to… destroy the heavens…?

Not only was it a ridiculous thought, but it also seemed like a worse idea than battling the Celestial Transcendent to the death.

However, Davis didn't think like the other Dark Apostles. He was very interested in stepping into this domain since he needed to more or less confront the heavens in the future because he possessed Fallen Heaven.

With how Fallen Heaven was afraid of the heavens, the more he learned, the better it would be for him.

"How?" Davis only asked a single question, his voice echoing with rabid interest.

'This youngster…' Leader Arnoxin's gaze flickered, 'He really isn't afraid to breach on this topic even after the spatial and karmic rumbling. My space-attributed replica almost suffered some damage… but this is good… I want someone like him to make this a possibility…!'

He clenched his fist, a smile overcoming his lips.

"I don't know."

He looked up at the vast nebulae that kept reforming.

"But I believe the answer lies in my birthplace, the Primeval Universe Ruins."

"…!?"

This time, Davis was thoroughly dumbfounded.

It wasn't only him, but the other Dark Apostles also seemed to be hearing new things after another that they never knew about their leader. He was already enigmatic enough, but they didn't imagine he was this enigmatic.

What kind of background could a Divergent have?

Just an unlucky person who wasn't meant to be born and didn't conform to the flow of fate.

But their leader…

"You… you were one of those ridiculous outsiders? The origin of those cursed artifacts…?" The Second Dark Apostle stood up, his gaze incredulous.

The Dark Apostles held their breaths, including Davis.

They waited for his answer and finally saw him shake his head.

"No. My father and mother were denizens of this universe, but they birthed me in the Primeval Universe Ruins. It could be a fateful encounter or some vile act, but either way, I was born with my Abyssal Primordium Body that changed my fate into one of an Anarchic Divergent, or so I believe."

"…"

The inner chamber was still unresponsive, and the silence was heavy.

Davis didn't think the Heavenly Blight Hall's Leader had such an origin story. It had eclipsed his imagination and finally made him understand what made him want to challenge the heavens. Certainly, if it were someone from another universe, at least in the sense of technically having a dual citizenship, they would have the mentality of challenging one greater entity and escaping to the other.

"Fret not," Leader Arnoxin flicked his sleeves, "I am not insane and remain perfectly aware of how difficult it is to achieve what I said, so I also have a backup plan."

"What is it?" Davis eagerly asked again.

"We convince the heavens." Leader Arnoxin said as though it was definitely achievable.

It made Davis and the other Apostles blink like clueless children.

Leader Arnoxin raised his hand, "Do you know the legend of magical beasts becoming able to transform into humans twenty or thirty billion years ago? It was the time the Celestial Transcendent became the Celestial Transcendent and performed a huge achievement by single-handedly stopping the Primeval Universe Ruins from greatly destroying or assimilating with our universe."

"It was said he communicated with the heavens, and as a reward, it granted him his wish. The heavens made it possible for the magical beasts to transform into humans just so he could marry his fox wife and have children. However, this solitary phenomenon affected all magical beasts, allowing them to transform into humans and breed with humans."

"What does that have to do…" The Second Dark Apostle said when his gaze flickered.

"Indeed," Leader Arnoxin nodded, "I believe if we could corner the heavens and bring it to a table, then we could get it to admit us as naturalized entities rather than remain foreign, remain as the so-called Divergents. Then we would be free to do as we pleased, no longer facing Heaven's Warriors."

"…!"

Davis and the others looked stupefied. The next idea was wilder than the one before, making them speechless.

Bringing the heavens to the table? If people could do that, then they wouldn't be crying out to the heavens for treating them unfairly when things are not going their way.

Davis felt like meeting the heavens was something the Celestial Transcendent and the other top seven Heaven's Warriors of the respective Galaxies could do.

"Haha," Leader Arnoxin chuckled, "I was at an impasse on how to achieve this without causing greater destruction and pissing the heavens off, but then you appeared- or rather, your apocalyptic flame spirit appeared."

"If we can start erasing at least one Upper Realm in every Galaxy, I think we can send a clear message and force the heavens to pay us a visit. What do you think?"

"…"
