Chapter 1326: ENDS HERE
LUO YAN'S heart pounded. His hands felt icy. His father's voice was calm, but he could still hear the hurt underneath. He hated that he caused it. He never meant for things to happen this way. He had wanted to tell his father about his relationship with Shen Ji Yun. It was just... hard. He was afraid his father wouldn't approve, and he didn't want to fight with him. So he took the easy way out and kept it a secret. He had planned to tell him, eventually. He just never expected his father to find out on his own. And like this.
He inhaled deeply and met his father's gaze. "Dad..."
Before Luo Yan could say anything else, Shen Ji Yun suddenly stood up. He walked over to his father and bowed deeply in front of him.
"I'm sorry, Uncle Wei Tian. This is my fault," Shen Ji Yun said. "Please don't be angry at Yan Yan. I was the one who confessed first. I pursued him. I asked him to be with me." His voice started out shaky, but grew steadier as he went on. "I'm sorry we kept this from you. We never meant to lie or deceive you. I hope you can understand why we did. It's difficult to just say something like this out loud." He paused, then straightened up and met Luo Yan's father's eyes directly. "But I will never apologize for loving your son. Or for the relationship we have. Yan Yan is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I will never be sorry for that."
Luo Wei Tian gritted his teeth. Despite everything he had seen with his own eyes, a part of him had still hoped it was all just a misunderstanding. That he was reading too much into things. But hearing Shen Ji Yun say it out loud, with no hesitation, killed that hope for good. Frustration burned in his chest. He wanted to grab Shen Ji Yun by the collar and throw him out. He felt betrayed.
All those times Shen Ji Yun had come around, always so quiet and helpful, always staying close to Luo Yan. Luo Wei Tian had thought he was just a good friend, a reliable young man. But now it felt like a trick. Like a snake pretending to be harmless, curling up at their feet, waiting for the right moment. And while he wasn't looking, that snake had struck and taken his son.
He looked at Luo Yan and almost swore under his breath. His son was staring at Shen Ji Yun like the man had hung the moon just for him.
"How long?" he asked, his voice low and strained. He was trying hard to keep his anger in check. "How long has this... thing between you two been going on?"
A heavy silence filled the room. Then Shen Ji Yun spoke, his voice quiet.
"It would be a year tomorrow."
A year? Did he hear that right? Luo Wei Tian felt his anger spike. An entire year. This had been going on for an entire year right under his nose. His mind raced back to the date, to what tomorrow was. Then he remembered. Last year, around Luo Yan's birthday, they had gone on that trip. Shen Ji Yun had come along. It must have happened then. The thought made his blood boil. His hands curled into fists. All that time, all those moments he had trusted Shen Ji Yun to be around his son, and this was what had been happening behind his back.
He thought about how Luo Yan had just turned eighteen back then. And Shen Ji Yun had known him even before that. What, had he planned all of this from the start? Luo Wei Tian thought about how much time Luo Yan spent in that game, how he was always with Shen Ji Yun there. Shen Ji Yun had worked his way into every part of his son's life. Was it intentional? Did he see Luo Yan, fall for him, and then do everything he could to make sure Luo Yan fell for him too? The thought made his jaw tighten.
Wait—was Shen Ji Yun also the reason Luo Yan chose T University instead of staying in S City or going somewhere closer to home? The thought hit him like a punch to the chest. He thought about how much time the two of them must have spent alone since the semester started. All those weeks with no one watching. No one to see what they were doing. Luo Wei Tian's hands curled into fists. His whole body went tense. Anger surged through him. He could barely keep himself from shouting.
"Did you plan this?" Luo Wei Tian's voice came out low, dangerous. "Did you convince him to come here so you could have him all to yourself?"
His father's question shocked Luo Yan. He stood up quickly. "No, Dad. That's not what happened. Brother Ji Yun isn't like that. He doesn't have a scheming bone in his body. He's not some mastermind who planned all of this." He took a breath, trying to steady his voice. "I chose T University because I wanted to. Because it was the best choice for me. Not because of anyone else. And what we have... it just happened. Neither of us planned it. It just... grew."
But Luo Wei Tian couldn't hear any of that right now. In his head, Shen Ji Yun was already guilty. He had planned everything. He had pretended to be trustworthy, gotten close to the family, and then gone after his son. He had pulled Luo Yan into this relationship and hadn't even had the decency to come forward and admit it. And if he hadn't seen it with his own eyes tonight, how much longer would it have gone on? Another year? More? The thought made his blood boil.
"Xiao Yan, it's not your explanation I need right now," he said, forcing himself to keep his voice level. Then he turned his glare on Shen Ji Yun. "It's yours. And if you can't give me one that I can accept, this... relationship ends here tonight."
